BTB (Mini) Refinery Projects, Chemex Worldwide

The BTB Group co-operates with Chemex Worldwide Limited to
design, supply and fabricate modular crude oil topping plants (ADU) with associated process units.
Chemex fabricates mini-refineries ranging from 625 to 12,000 barrels per day. BTB?s process units are modular systems with all equipment designed to meet typical United States codes such as ASME, ASTM, API, ANSI, AISC, ACI, NEC and OSHA.
The crude topping unit produces sub-octane naphtha (likely around 65 octane), diesel, Kerosene, L.P.G. and residuum (residual fuel oil). The actual yield of each product depends upon the crude oil feed. An assay or distillation information can be used to better predict yields.
Process Units
Chemex's modular process units will be provided as follows:
1) Provide an Engineering and Design package to include Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Skid Structural Steel Design, Skid General Arrangement and Piping Plan Drawings, Electrical Single Line Diagram and Wiring Diagrams, Instrumentation Location Diagram and Wiring Diagrams.
2) Procure the equipment and fabricate/assemble the skids. The skids will include the following components:
* Pressure Vessels
* Pumps
* Air Coolers
* Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers
* Process Heaters
* On-skid piping and manual gate, ball and check valves.
* Insulation and aluminium jacketing for pipe, vessels and exchangers, as needed.
* All equipment skid-mounted on heavy duty steel frame with grating on high traffic areas.
* Carbon steel equipment and piping will sand blasted to SP-6 and painted.
* Instrumentation installed and wired to a skid-mounted junction box.
* Skid electrical installed and wired to a skid-mounted Motor Control Center (MCC) panel.
* One year supply of spare parts stored in separate container.
The units outlined above include the following:
crude topping plants ADU
Desalter
HDS Hydrotreater
All equipment is provided FAS Port of Houston, Texas. Freight, installation and off-skid site.
Improvements (tanks, concrete, piping, pipeline connections, electrical power, buildings, load rack, etc.) would be by others
Chemex?s target completion for the topping plant (ready to ship) is 10 to 12 months and 14 to 16 months for the hydrotreater and desalter from receipt of written Notice to Proceed and initial payment.
Please note that Chemex?s proposal reflects use of all new components. The use of previously used, refurbished equipment would allow for savings on fabrication costs (approximately 1% up to 15%, depending on availability of equipment at time of order) and possibly shorten the total project completion time.
